Jingzaijiao is located north west of Tainan city. It's full name is 夕遊-井仔腳瓦盤鹽田 ( Xī yóu-jǐng zǐ jiǎo wǎ pán yántián). It name literally translate to (scenic well foot tile salt fields) this long name is not just for fun rather it tells a story. As 井仔腳 (jǐng zǐ jiǎo) repersents the shape of the 瓦盤 (wǎ pán) specialty tiles that line the bottom of each salt field. However most people just call this place 台南鹽田-Tainan salt fields.
Many people come to see the fields throughout the day as they pass from Chiayi to Tainan or vis versa. However we choose to stay at a homestay a few blocks away to enjoy the full beauty of this town. We stayed at 鹽鄉民宿餐廳- Salt Country House @ 727, Taiwan, Tainan City, Beimen District, 井仔腳57號. They lent us bikes and pointed us down a road that seperated the sea and the saltfields. Riding down the road seeing the ocean and felling the gental breeze of the sea was breath taking. The road took us many fields with post making the spot where the oyster grow. Although the salt is the most famous in this area, the dried and salted seafood products are also a popular souvenire sold in small stalls throughout the town.
