Tainan is the old capital of Taiwan and Anping is the coastal district of Tainan. This district is the home to many historical sites restored for entry. Fort Zeekandia is more commonly known as Anping old fort. This fort has a watching tower that oversees the coast and the city of Tainan. Yet most importantly is the combination of different architectural designs.
This fort is a combination of Chinese and European architecture as it was first built by the people of Holland when they first conquered and once and reconstructed by the Chinese later during the rule of the Chinese. The fort has now been restored and redesigned as a museum for the history of architecture of forts built by Holland in this area.
