I have never been to the moon however I have been to the closest thing on earth. Which is 田寮月世界 (Tián liáo yuè shìjiè)- Moon World Park. Located between Chongde Village and Gutin Village in Tianliao District of Kaohsiung is this beautiful area of desert that mimics that landscape of the moon. The hills formed in this land is from the slow release of sediment that was once blown and compacted by the wind.
After the government took of the land and converted the desert into a park, many people have come to walk its trails and admire it beautiful night scenery. Unfortunately, we were unable to stay until the night light was lit, so we plan to return and experience more of the beauty of this park in the future.
Transportation to the park quite straight forward by train and bus. It is the best drive, however public transit is also available. Take the local train (TRA) to Gangshan Station and transfer to Kaohsiung local bus 8012 (toward Kaohsiung Bus Qishan North Station) getting off at Riyue Temple walking to Moon World.
