We all dream and we all hope to be blessed in all that we do. Here on the railroad tracks of Shi Fun Lao Jie (十分老街) lanterns take off with these wishes every day. This place can also be called the land of dreams as millions of these lanterns are lit and leave your finger tips to drifts away in the wind.
These wishes are made by young and old, local or foreign, and in every language possible. Heart felt wishes and drawings can be seen on each lanterns as you walk down this street. This street is lined with old stores selling traditions snacks and so many different candies you can't even keep count.
During the day the hustle and bustle of tour groups and students on vacation make for a busy and crowded experience. During the night as the stores begin to close its more quiet and slow. No matter your preference this old street is a nice little place to take a stroll and enjoy the feel of old Taipei. No matter if your traveling with family or friends it is a great place to stop by and see.
Directions:
Heading from Taipei City, it will be best to take the Tze-Chiang Express train from Taipei Main Station towards Ruifang Train Station then take the shuttle towards Shifen Station.
*On route to Shifen, Ruifang train station is where you can take a short bus ride up the mountain to Jioufen old street where the famous tea houses that inspired the background of the animation Spirited Away stand.
