Gwanziling is hidden in Tainan county on Jade mountain. Unlike the hot spring areas like Beitou in Taipei here they are known for their mud hot springs. This is a natural occurrence as the hot spring water is filled with minerals found in the local soils.
Gwanziling's address is in Tainan County which is actually closer to Chiayi city. It is only a 45min drive from Chiayi while on the other hand almost a 2hr drive from Tainan City. We love to take a day out of our vacation to stop by this little hot spring township as a little getaway. We stayed at 關子嶺統茂溫泉會館-Tong Mao inclusive Resort with their own hotsprings. Here not only is their hot springs amazing for the body, but their 關子嶺 甕仔雞-clay pot chicken is also a top recommendation for the stomach. It is a chicken baked in clay pots with coals just perfectly, juicy, and perfectly crisp. Make sure to also ask for some gravy served on the side to make your experience even greater.
Take the time to stay the night and experience even more like, the mountain top coffee shop, the local restaurants and fruit picking when in season. This little township sits on the edge of the mountain and has us always going back.
